Chaplet of Mercy and Forgiveness

How to Pray Chaplet:
This devotion may be prayed on the regular Marian Rosary of 59 beads.

Begin by blessing yourself and kissing the Crucifix. Looking at the crucifix, say:

"Lord Jesus, we believe in You
as You are the Son of Mary
and the Son of the Living God,
Creator and Redeemer.
You came from heaven to earth
to save all mankind.
You are the Savior of the World.
You taught us to pray:
'Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name;
Thy kingdom come;
Thy will be done on earth
as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
now and forever.

Amen.'"

On all of the "Our Father" beads, instead of the "Our Father," say:

"Merciful Jesus, our Redeemer,
You said, "ask and you shall receive."
We humbly ask You to hear our prayer,
forgive us our sins
and grant us Your peace and salvation.
We praise You now and forever."

Amen.

On all of the "Hail Mary" beads, instead of the "Hail Mary," say:

"Holy God, Holy Mighty One,
Holy Immortal One,
have mercy on us."

At the end of each decade (10 beads), instead of the "Glory be to the Father," say:

"Most Blessed Virgin Mary,
Mother of God,
intercede for us."

At the end of the last decade of the chaplet, say:

"Most blessed Virgin Mary,
Mother of God,
intercede for us,
for the forgiveness of our sins,
peace and eternal salvation
from your loving Son,
our Lord Jesus Christ,
the only Son of the Living God,
and we praise you,
we bless His name now and forever."

History of Chaplet:
History: This chaplet was composed by Chorbishop Joseph Saidi of Worcester, Massachusetts, U.S.A. Father Saidi was the pastor of Our Lady of Mercy Maronite Catholic Church from 1947 until his retirement in August 1977.

You can also Say:

Oh Sacred Heart of Jesus, Oh Sacred Blood of Jesus, Oh Sacred Wounds of Jesus...

Have mercy on us and unto the whole world (3x)

Since we are praying for the Holy Souls in purgatory We say:

Oh Sacred Heart of Jesus, Oh Sacred Blood of Jesus, Oh Sacred Wounds of Jesus...

Have mercy on all the Souls in Purgatory, to us and unto the whole world (3x)

You can add Intercession Prayers here:

There are slightly different ways of saying all our chaplets, and it seems to depend on which area you live in. Basically they are the same in meaning it is only the words that differ. This is based on the private revelations to Sr.Maria Martha Chambon. The following are promises of Jesus to her:
1. I will grant the petition of those who ask me through the invocation of my Holy Wounds. Promote this devotion.
2. This prayer comes from heaven...It can obtain all.
3. My Holy Wounds sustain the world...Love them because they are fountains of all graces. Invoke them frequently and invite your neighbor to do the same for the benefit of the souls.
4. When you have pains to endure, take them quickly to my Wounds and they will become light to bear.
5. To the sick, repeat many times this invocation:"My Jesus, pardon and mercy, for the merits of your Holy Wounds." This prayer will lighten the body and the soul.
6. Let the sinner say:"Eternal Father, to you I offer the Wounds of our Lord Jesus Christ to save our souls." It will obtain conversion.
7. My Wounds will alleviate yours.
8. Those who die invoking the merits of my Wounds will have eternal life.
9. For every word that they pronounce from the Prayer of Mercy, I let a drop of my Blood fall on the soul of the sinner.
10. Those who honor my Holy Wounds and have offered them to the Eternal Father for the souls in Purgatory will be accompanied at the time of their death by the Blessed Virgin and by the Angels and I will receive them to crown them.
11. The Holy Wounds are the Treasure of all treasures for the souls in Purgatory.
12. The devotion to my Holy Wounds is the remedy in this time of iniquity.
13. From my Wounds come forth the fruits of holiness. Those who meditate on them will receive new nourishment of love.

Francis John Bartholomew, a Passionist monk of SS. John and Paul at Rome, a most holy man, who had frequent revelations, once saying Mass, thought of the scourges about to fall on the world - wars, famine, pestilence, etc., when the following prayer was revealed to him, and he was told that whosoever recited it with devotion, would be preserved from all dangers with which the whole world would be visited.

Most powerful and merciful Lord Jesus lover of Souls and most admirable in thy Saints, listen to the sigh and pleas of the Souls of (Name) and the faithful departed in purgatory. Who are desirous of thy mercy and to the prayers of those who are making this novena for them so that they may obtain thy mercy and deign to rescue them from that prison of their great suffering. I beseech thee to relieve first (Name) who are suffering there through my fault, my close relatives, the abandoned, and those who are about to be released from purgatory. I beseech thee also, to free above all, (Name) and those who injured me most and deliver from their sins those who are in the bondage of mortal sin and bring them to a sincere repentance of their sins, and become worthy of Heaven. Amen.

The Passion (On the Creed):

Lord, open our lips and inflame our hearts and cleanse them of useless and evil thoughts. Enlighten our minds, that we may seriously meditate on thy sufferings and death and the pains endured by thy most glorious mother, and deign to hear and receive us before thy great majesty, thou who livest and reignest forever. Amen.

On The Lord's Prayer for the Poor Souls, As Given To St. Matilda

Our Father Who Art In Heaven: we most humbly beseech you--good, merciful and Eternal Father--forgive the poor Souls who you yourself have taken as your children, who did not love you and who pushed you away from them and neglected to give you sufficient honor. As reparation and penance I offer you all the love and good deeds of your most beloved Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Hallowed Be Thy Name: I most humbly beseech you--good, Merciful and Eternal Father--forgive the poor Souls who did not give glory to your Name, who often spoke unworthily or thoughtlessly. As reparation and penance I offer you all the sermons with which your most beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, honored your Name while here on earth.

Thy Kingdom Come: We beseech you most humbly--Good Eternal and Merciful Father--forgive the poor Souls who did not attend to your Kingdom with a burning love and a yearning wish but who often enriched themselves with earthly goods. As reparation and penance, I offer you the great offering that your most beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, made so that all can be taken into your kingdom.

Thy Will Be Done, On Earth as It Is in Heaven: We beseech you most humbly--good, Eternal And Merciful Father forgive the poor Souls who did not serve your will but often followed their own will and who thereby did not do your will. As reparation and penance, we offer you the Holy and Divine Heart of Your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, and its total will service.

Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread And Forgive Us Our Trespasses As We Forgive Those Who Trespass Against Us: We beseech you most humbly good, Eternal And Merciful Father forgive the poor Souls who offered no resistance to big temptations but who fell to the urgings of evil and into ruin. As reparation and penance we offer you the obedience, the tiring work, all the bitter sufferings and the death of your most beloved Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

And Deliver Us From Evil: We most humbly beseech you--good, Eternal And Merciful Father--forgive the poor Souls and lead them as well as our Souls, through the merits of your most beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, into the kingdom of your holiness, which you yourself are. Amen.

Prayer of sacrifice for the poor Souls (for the Hail Holy queen)

Almighty, Eternal God! Because it is your will that we pray for the poor Souls, I offer you, through Mary’s most unblemished hands, all the masses that are celebrated today, for your highest honor and for the redemption of the Souls in Purgatory. Humbly, I beg of you, erase their guilt through the overly rich merits of your most beloved Son and have mercy on them. For the restitution of the praise, the love, the honor, the thanks, and the merits that these Souls neglected to show and to gather, I offer you all the praise, the love, the honor, the thanks, and the troubles of your Son through which he honored you while here in the world. In reparation for all neglects and tepidity, which these Souls committed, I offer you the glowing zeal with which your Son did all his work here on earth and which are now renewed and brought to you in all Holy masses. In reparation for all mistakes and all that was left undone by these Souls, I offer you all virtues which your Son practiced in totality and which he now still practices and completes in all Holy masses. For the cleansing of all stains of sin that these Souls still show, I offer you the sacred blood which your Son shed while here on earth and which he now renews and continues in all Holy masses. As discharge from all punishments and torments, which these Souls endure, I offer you the bitter passion and death of your most beloved Son, which he now renews and continues in all Holy masses. For their rescue from the burning dungeon, I offer you the infinite merits which your Son earned on earth and which he now still exercises and distributes in all Holy masses. Finally, in order to do enough to fulfill your strict justice, I offer you all virtues and merits which the entire life, suffering, and death of your most beloved Son, his holiest mother, all Saints and chosen ones who together suffered more than the dear poor Souls left undone. Amen.

Prayer: Most Sweet Jesus who in thy desire to redeem the world, deigned to be born, circumcised, mocked by the Jews, to fall into the hands of the treacherous kiss of Judas, to be bound and brought to the place of sacrifice like a meek lamb, brought before Caiaphas, Pilate and Herod, spat on, accused and condemned with false witnesses, to be slapped and have thy sacred body covered with wounds from the cruel scourging, to be crown with thorns, thy face covered with a purple cloth in mockery, stripped of thy garments, nailed and elevated on the cross between two thieves as if thou wert one of them, offered gall and vinegar to drink, and to be pierced in thy side with a lance, Deliver Oh Lord the Souls of (Name) and all the Souls in Purgatory from their great sufferings through thy most bitter passion bring them to thy glory. Deliver us all from the pains of hell. Through the merits of thy Holy passion and death on the cross-, so that we may all be worthy to enter that kingdom where thou brought the good thief. Who was crucified with thee, who liveth and reigneth, the Father and the Holy Spirit forever. Amen

Eternal rest grant unto (Name) and the Faithful Departed Oh Lord

And let perpetual light shine upon them

From the gates of hell, deliver The Souls of (Name) And the Faithful Departed, Oh Lord.

May (Name) (they) rest in peace. Amen.

Oh Lord hear my prayer…. and let my cry come unto thee

The Lord be with you and thy Spirit. O God Creator And Redeemer Of All The Faithful, grant unto our Souls thy servant and the Souls of thy faithful departed (Name),the remission of all our sins, that through pious supplications we may obtain the pardon we have always desired, we earnestly pray the remission of all sins specially the sins of the faithful Souls in Purgatory. We ask you this God the Father who live and reign the world without end amen. Oh Lord hear my prayer & let my cry come unto thee O Holy Spirit, come into my Soul, that I may discover all the sins I have committed and grant me the grace to be sorry for them in all humility and contriteness of heart.

O My God, at the moment of my appearance before you this day, I sincerely confess before your divine majesty and before the whole court of Heaven, that I have offended you by thought, word and deed.  By my sins I have contributed to the death of Jesus on the cross but you have forgiven me, washing my Soul in the blood of your Son and clothing it with the wedding garment of your grace. I come, therefore, contrite and repentant, but with a heart overflowing with boundless gratitude, to your Holy presence which you deigned to grant to a prodigal child like me. What shall I render to you for all the good you have done to me?  Lord, I am sorry for all my sins.  I promise not to sin again, for I love you.  Amen.

A prayer for deliverance of the Souls in purgatory

Prayer to the Souls in purgatory:

O Holy Souls in purgatory, who are the certain heirs of heaven, Souls most dear to Jesus as the trophies of his precious blood, and to Mary, mother of mercy, obtain for me through your intercession the grace to lead a Holy life, to die a happy death and to attain to the blessedness of eternity in heaven. Dear suffering Souls, who languish in your prison of pain and long to be delivered in order to praise and glorify God in heaven, by your unfailing pity help me at this time, [state your intention(s) here...] That I may obtain relief and assistance from God. In gratitude for your intercession I offer to God on your behalf the satisfactory merits of all my works and sufferings of this day/week/month. (The time that you determine)

O Gentle Heart of Jesus, ever present in the Blessed Sacrament, ever consumed with burning love for the poor captive Souls in purgatory, have mercy on them. Be not severe in your judgments, but let some drops of your precious blood fall upon the devouring flames. And, merciful Savior, send your angels to conduct them to a place of refreshment, light and peace amen.

O Lord hear my prayer & let my cry come unto thee O Holy Spirit, come into my soul, that I may discover all the sins I have committed and grant me the grace to be sorry for them.

Eternal rest grant unto them o Lord; and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they all rest in peace amen; may their Souls and the Souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace amen.
